Our little nature reserve is situated about 20 mins walk from the main Mariposa Spanish School and Eco Hotel –
the cabins are surrounded by beautiful forest and fruit trees, flower gardens, a medicinal garden and is
home to some of our rescued dogs and a rare chicken breed project.
Cabin 1 (La Cabaña Mango) has two bedrooms which can accommodate 2 single beds or one double, a seating area, a dining area
and a small kitchenette with fridge and hotplate. The attached bathroom consists of a shower (with hot water)
and a separate latrine. This cabin is built using sustainable materials – primarily straw, covered with adobe. The seating area has
a high tiled roof, to allow for natural ventilation. Furniture, including hammocks,
is all locally made.
Cabin 2 (La Cabaña Aguacate) was the original house built on the land to house the caretaker and his family. We
have preserved as much as possible of the original wooden structure, adding a kitchenette, an attached bathroom
with hot water shower and latrine and a private terrace and garden. This cabin has one bedroom (double bed or two singles)
and large sitting/dining room which can also accommodate sleeping arrangements.
Both cabins can be booked together and would be suitable for a group of 6 to 8 family or friends.
There is ample space for children to run around and play in a safe environment.
The price includes 4 hours of one-on-one Spanish class, 3 meals per day at the main Mariposa building and
the afternoon and weekend activities program.
We can provide transport to and from the cabins from the main site at a cost of $4 per journey.
There is an all-night security guard in the grounds.
PLEASE NOTE that the cabins are no longer on solar power; electricity is from the
commercial network (over 60% of which is produced from renewable sources.
